Code and research is often used in ways the original developers/researchers never intended, it gets scraped by bots to train AI and militaries/intelligence agencies/corporations use it for mass surveillance or worse: in weapons

All-the-while STEM professionals often feel they do not have much of a choice, other than to contribute to military/defense/lethal technologies as cutting edge technologies as well as Research and Development are often driven by military demands and funding

That’s is Why We Are Here! ☮️🕊️✌️😌

At Code Bloom we seek to:

Distribute Ethical Source Software, where each right granted to users/developers is tied to a responsibility fostering technology stewardship helping you protect your work.
Create a professional network where STEM professionals can find safe ethical jobs and apply their skills.
Gather to build life-affirming community projects that serve the common good

Ethics ⚖️

Our primary principle is the Consistent Life Ethic (CLE); we aim to develop technological, legal measures, and professional network in order to create a safe harbor so your work is not used in a way contrary to the CLE, we also strive to help others:

Prevent their work from harming The Environment & expanding the causes of Climate Change
Have their work used in a way which respects the Privacy and Civil Liberties of others
Have their work used in a way which respects Technology & Digital Rights of others
Prevent their work from contributing to Unethical Material Harvesting
Prevent their work from being used to train AI without consent

Solidarity 🤝

While our primary cause is the Consistent Life Ethic 🌱, we do our best to support and be aware of other social justice causes

We support other causes which are working to de-lethalize and de-militrize STEM, or at least to limit certain harms, here is our list
We are also in support of the broader Environmental movment(s) fighting pollution and Climate Change; both are large causes of death accross the globe, and we consider both Consistent Life Ethic issues.
We value diversity and support equitable treatment and the inclusion of people of good will acting in good faith regardless of
- race/ethnicity
- self-identified gender/orientation
- ability
- nationality
- faith/creed/religion
- cultural background
- age/stage of development
We are support movements seeking to protect or gain recognition for Privacy, Technology and Civil Rights/Liberties
We are in solidarity with the many people affected by the negative aspects of AI, including
- Developers, artists, writers, and other professionals who AI companies have taken advantage of and seek to replace
- Communities devastated by AI data-centers even to the point of having their water supply used to feed computers instead of humans
- The irresponsible roll-out of AI despite the many risks for which experts have warned the public
- Employees who are forced to use their skills to train AI to replace them
- The weaponization of AI and robotics
- Exposure of workers to large amounts to large amounts of vile content in order to make AI more “safe” to the point of being psychologically harmful

We think still possible and support
- the prevention of space militarization/weaponization;
- the rolling back of existing space militarization;
- the avoidance of placing weapons in space or in earth/lunar orbit;
- a peaceful future where space and human settlements are non-violent-conflict-zones;
- caring for our space environment and the environment of other celestial bodies
